We believe Next Coin Market is an illegal organisation based in Bulgaria, claiming to be an FCA authorised firm offering cryptocurrencies to UK consumers.
We have become aware they are sending consumers a link to a fake website, which gives the impression they are authorised by the FCA, when they are not. This is criminal activity.
If you have been approached by Next Coin Market, or another unauthorised firm with a link to our website, please contact us[1]. If you have transferred money to the firm, you should also report your concerns to Action Fraud[2].
Anyone who deals with an unauthorised firm is not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme[3] and cannot complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.[4]
Consumers can check whether a website is genuine by checking the web address (domain name or URL), which appears in the address bar at the top of the webpage. Ours should always begin with: www.fca.org.uk or register.fca.org.uk for the Financial Services Register website[5].
How to protect yourself
We strongly advise you to only deal with financial firms that are authorised by us, and to check the Financial Services Register[5] to ensure they are. It has information on firms and individuals that are, or have been, regulated by us.
If a firm does not appear on the Register but claims it does, contact our Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768.
