Reference Case Number: FOI8157

Freedom of Information: Right to know request:

Further to the data supplied in FOI6048 and FOI6330, I would like the following:

1)  number of whistleblowing disclosures/allegations received by the FCA for calendar years, 2019 and 2020;
2)  number of those disclosures that had been assessed at end of each year (versus those remaining to be assessed);
3)  number of disclosures which required further action by the FCA.

FCA response:

We have processed your request in line with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and will address each point in turn.

  1. Number of whistleblowing disclosures/allegations received by the FCA for calendar years, 2019 and 2020

2019: 1,179 disclosures, consisting of 2,747 allegations.

2020: 1,075 disclosures, consisting of 2,798 allegations.

Please note that more than one allegation can be attributed to each disclosure, hence the difference in the numbers.

  1. Number of those disclosures that had been assessed at end of each year (versus those remaining to be assessed)

To date 863 disclosures from 2019 have been assessed and 316 remain under assessment.

To date 445 disclosures from 2020 have been assessed and 630 remain under assessment.

These figures are correct as at 20 April 2021.

  1. Number of disclosures which required further action by the FCA

To date, 727 disclosures from 2019 led to further action (beyond initial assessment and triage by the WB team)

To date, 344 disclosures from 2020 led to further action (beyond initial assessment and triage by the WB team)

These figures are correct as at 20 April 2021.
