FCA response:

Question 1

777 companies applied for claims management permissions when the FCA took over from the Claims Management Regulator (the ‘CMR’).

Question 2

221 applications were received for claims management permissions for lead generation only when the FCA took over from the CMR. By this we mean the application received was for ‘seeking out’ permission only.

Question 5

664 companies are currently authorised by the FCA to provide regulated claims management services.

Questions 3, 4 and 6

We do not hold the information you have asked for. This is because the seeking out permission (lead generation firms would have this and only this permission) covers different sectors and does not distinguish between personal injury and the other CMC sectors.
