Great Point Investments Limited enters liquidation

Following the insolvency of Great Point Media Limited, the Firm’s parent, and the limited funds available at the Firm, its director took steps to place it in liquidation. 

Your investment is not affected by the liquidation of the Firm.

The Joint Liquidators will be writing to investors shortly to explain what to do if you have investments in the EIS 6 Fund.

If you do not hear from the Joint Liquidators or have more questions about your investment, contact the Joint Liquidators.

If you have made a complaint against the Firm, you may have a claim if you are due any money in compensation.

As the Firm has gone into liquidation, it may not have enough money to pay compensation to customers where it is due. 

You should first contact the Joint Liquidators on the number above for more details about how complaints or claims will be dealt with.

The FSCS is operationally independent of the FCA. The FSCS determines whether compensation is payable under our compensation rules.

A claims management company (CMC) may approach you offering to help you bring a claim. You should proceed with caution if you are approached by a CMC. 

For the vast majority of clients, there is no benefit in involving a third party in reclaiming your assets. 

If you use a CMC to assist in the return of your assets, the CMC is likely to seek a fee which may reduce what you get back. 

If you are considering using a CMC, we suggest you first discuss this with the FSCS or the Joint Liquidators using the contact details provided above. 

Fraudsters sometimes claim to be from legitimate firms authorised by us, or (in the case of liquidation) their appointed liquidator.

Be wary of fraudsters pretending to be the Firm or the Joint Liquidators and asking you to pay money to get your money back. 

If you get an unexpected call from someone claiming to be from the Firm or the Joint Liquidators, you should:  

• end the call straight away
• call the Joint Liquidators or FSCS directly using the contact numbers above.

The Firm is still authorised by the FCA and remains subject to supervisory oversight and the FCA’s rules. The Joint Liquidators need to comply with all insolvency law. The individuals appointed are authorised to act as licensed insolvency practitioners by the Insolvency Practitioners Association and are responsible to the courts. We will work with them as appropriate. 

The Firm signed a voluntary requirement which contained an asset restriction (which restricts the Firm from disposing of assets without FCA permission) and also stopped the Firm from onboarding new customers and taking additional subscriptions from existing customers.
