Lonsdale Insurance Brokers Limited enters liquidation

If you bought your insurance through Lonsdale, it acted as your insurance broker and your insurance policy is still in force.

Amendments and renewals will generally not be processed by the firm.  

You should contact your insurer to confirm your options. You can find details of who your insurer is in your policy documents.

Your policy remains in place and if you have a claim you should continue to follow the process as detailed in your policy documents. 

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) exists to protect customers when some financial services firms fail. It is the compensation scheme for customers of UK authorised financial services firms. It has eligibility criteria both for the people and businesses who are covered. FSCS will assess whether there are any valid claims for compensation. The liquidators will work closely with FSCS and provide further updates when they are available.

All customers should remain alert to the possibility of fraud.

The FCA does not regulate insolvency practitioners. 

The joint liquidators are officers of the Court and will need to comply with all relevant insolvency law. The individuals appointed are authorised to act as licensed insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

We are liaising closely with the joint liquidators. 

Lonsdale is still authorised by the FCA and its permissions will be retained during the insolvency process, where necessary, to enable the proposed liquidators to help ensure an orderly wind-down.
