Mortgages and coronavirus: additional guidance for firms - finalised guidance

This guidance applies in the exceptional circumstances arising out of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and its impact on the financial situation of mortgage customers.

Read the finalised guidance

On 17 November we published updated guidance on mortgages and coronavirus, which replaces this with effect from 20 November 2020.

Following a short period for comments, we have today finalised our additional guidance setting out how firms should provide tailored support to mortgage borrowers who have benefitted from payment deferrals under the current guidance and who continue to face financial difficulties, as well as those whose financial situation may be affected by coronavirus after 31 October.

The additional guidance applies from 16 September.

Our guidance published in June will continue to provide support for those impacted by coronavirus until 31 October 2020 – with consumers able to take a first or second 3 month payment deferral until this date.

Given ongoing uncertainties arising from the impact of coronavirus, we will keep our position under regular review and will update or amend our guidance, or provide new guidance, if it is required.
