Reproducing content from the Handbook

If you would like to reproduce content from the Handbook, you will need to apply for a licence agreement.

General

1.1 By accessing any part of this site, you will be deemed to have accepted these terms in full.

1.2 These terms are governed by and interpreted in line with English law.

1.3 Subject to 2.1 and 2.2, these terms apply to the whole of the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA’s) website.

Information made available under the terms of the Open Government Licence

2.1 Some statistical outputs published jointly by the FCA and the Bank of England and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority may be made available for reproduction under the terms of the UK Open Government Licence (UKOGL). Where the UKOGL is expressly stated to apply, it replaces conditions 3.2 to 3.5 of these terms.

2.2 The UKOGL replaces conditions 3.2 to 3.5 of these terms in relation to any charts, figures, graphs, diagrams, tables and numerical datasets published within the Data section of this site and in respect of which the FCA owns the copyright. Where we have identified any third-party copyright information, you will need to obtain permission from the copyright holders concerned.

2.3 Subject to 2.1 and for avoidance of doubt, conditions 3.2 to 3.5 of these terms continue to apply to any narrative or explanatory text in any documents or pages published in or made available via the Data section of this site.

FCA Firm Checker terms

5.1 The FCA Firm Checker is a tool designed to help consumers understand if a firm is regulated by the FCA and authorised to provide a specific consumer-focused service. It translates regulatory permissions which a firm may have into plain language.

5.2 We try to make sure that the information on this tool is always up to date. Please be aware that it may, on average, take 24 hours to update information.

5.3 The tool includes a subset of the information shown on the Financial Services Register. The FS Register contains the full regulatory record for firms, individuals and other bodies, with detailed information including restrictions relating to cryptoasset firm activities, historic fines, their right to approve financial promotions, and their ability to handle client money.

5.4 The regulatory jurisdiction for the Financial Services Register comes under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, Payment Services Regulations 2017 and Electronic Money Regulations 2011.

5.5 These terms should be read in conjunction with those found on this page.

5.6 If the terms set out in this section differ from those found on this page, then the terms set out in this section will take precedence and apply to the FCA Firm Checker to the extent there is any difference.

5.7 Before you use the FCA Firm Checker, it is important to understand that the firms listed there are responsible for ensuring that the information they submit to us is accurate and up to date. We are not responsible for any error, omission or inaccuracy in the information submitted to us by third parties.

5.8 However, measures used to try to promote the accuracy of the data displayed include the following:

  • We have rules compelling firms to keep their details up to date.
  • We have systems and controls that ensure only users with the correct permissions can update the information.
  • We have required almost all firms that are authorised to provide certain regulated activities to attest annually that their information is correct.
